To those of us who exist in the third dimension, the flat picture plane of a painting is portal into the parallel, second dimension. A painting invites us to peer into a realm where the logic of emotion and spirit can be sensed with our eyes. It is an enlightening experience, yet many of us don't get to do this very often, because we are overwhelmed with X, Y, and Z. This visitor, the "Great Blue Herron", is not intimidated by how complicated our dimension can seem. He reaches through the square portal, into our world (which seems quite flat to him), and offers us a gesture of pure inspiration, a good omen: a sky blue brush stroke, painted on the very fabric of our dimension.

He can spring up anywhere. He likes the outdoors the best and often appears by areas of heavy foot traffic. He avoids gallery walls because they just can't contain his free and wandering spirit. "The Great Blue Herron" has been frequently sighted in Pittsburgh, PA. Some attribute his appearance to a paranormal phenomenon. Some say he's supernatural. Keep your eyes open, he may appear near you.
